CPR Training for Minnetonka Power Squadron Members
The best chance a person has of surviving a cardiac arrest or a drowning is if someone on site can begin ventilations and chest compression (CPR) within 90 seconds. Every minute that the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) is delayed the persons chance of survival is reduced by 10%. These numbers make it clear that we cannot count on EMS to help us in the critical first 10 minutes.
CPR is easy to do and when done correctly gives the victim of a cardiac arrest the best chance of survival until EMS personnel arrive.
This training is designed to be a hands-on practice of Adult/Child CPR including the use of AEDs. In addition to CPR we will practice conscious choking, victim assessment and discuss when to call 911.
John Raby has been teaching CPR and First Aid professionally for the past 31 years. The goal of this training is “Action over Perfection”, we will have fun while learning valuable lifesaving skills.
The training has a $5 materials fee per person. This is not a certifying course; however it will be taught using the current standards.
