Clean Up the Lake Day for Lake Minnetonka

Saturday June 2nd is Clean Up the Lake Day for Lake Minnetonka!

Squadron Members, mark you calendars as June 2 is clean up the lake day!  The Lake Minnetonka Association is sponsoring Clean Up the Lake Day, hosting an estimated 100 scuba divers whom will be removing debris from the lake bottom.  How can you help?  The LMA needs boats and their Captains to ferry the divers from Bayside Event Center to the clean up locations and back.  This is yet another great opportunity for you to support and deliver your civic responsibilities in support of USPS.  There are only two requirements for boats to participate in this event:  1) all participating boats need to be equipped with a ladder to allow ease of entry and exit for the divers to and from the water, and 2) all boats need to be equipped with an anchor.  A depth finder is helpful, but not required.

Here are the details for 2 June 2007 and Lake Clean Up Day:

– Location – Bayview Event Center, Excelsior Bay
- Free breakfast served for volunteers starting at 7:00 AM
– Load divers on boats beginning at approximately 7:45 AM
– Boats leave Bayside docks for clean-up activities, 8:30 AM
– Boats return with their divers to Bayside docks between 11-11:30 AM

– All volunteers will receive a free LMA event T-Shirt, which includes our Squadron’s logo & sponsorship

We need more Captains!!!  As of this message, the following Captains have already volunteered their boats and their time.  If you would like to contribute to this important cause by offering a ride on your boat to a needy diver, please contact Jim Crowley (952-443-3746/H, 612-280-4834/C, jcrowley@digitalriver.com).
