We are combing two seminars into one presentation! Maximize your time and earn two seminar credits that can be used towards your Inland Navigator certificate. This is also a great review for students wishing to take Piloting or Advanced Piloting in the future. If you’ve already taken Piloting, this would be a perfect refresher before starting Advanced Piloting January 9th.
You will learn practical techniques to plan, navigate, and check your progress on the water. Modern marine electronics like GPS and Chartplotters, combined with a little education, will make you a better captain and crew member.
These seminars will enable you to using nautical charts to determine safe routes and create waypoints in GPS devices. We also teach basic electronic navigation and planning using the free downloadable OpenCPN software. This seminar is a great foundation for advanced courses that teach piloting and celestial navigation skills.
The student kit includes the Introduction to Navigation booklet with integrated discussion to the instructor PowerPoint classroom presentation, including directions to download navigation charts and OpenCPN software.
