All contestants need to deliver their crock pots of chili on Sunday Sep 9th, by 1100. Game time is 1200. Tasting starts at half-time. Chili needs to come prepared, and hot, and it will be plugged in, to stay hot. All pots will be disguised, to keep the voting fair. Please do not tell others, which, chili is yours, nor bring special toppings for yours. We are providing toppings of, cheese, onions and sour cream. We also will have corn bread. bread sticks and scoop able corn chips, to go with the tasting. Desserts will be donated by other members and set out after tasting is completed.
Your crock pot should be able to hold 10 cups. If smaller, you will possibly run out before the competition is over. Servings average about two to three tablespoons. Cost for tasters is $10.00, children 12 and under w/paying adult family member, are free. Contestants eat free and children have a choice of noodle soup if they don’t want chili. Extra chili will be furnished for anyone who wants more after the competition, provided by Eddie Near. Water is available for the tasters.
All pots are numbered for voting, voters get a ballot, which is dropped into a ballot box. The Vikings game is on T.V. at noon, and the tasting will start at half-time.
First place is our famous traveling trophy and gift, 2nd and 3rd are a gift basket.
